Åsa Haglund

Åsa Haglund is heading the wide-bandgap optoelectronic group at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. Her research interests encompass semiconductor lasers and light-emitting diodes in the visible and ultraviolet wavelength regions. The focus is on nanostructuring for new optical functionality and thin-film devices to realize surface-emitting lasers. She is a recipient of a prestigious consolidator grant from the European Research Council’s and on The Photonics 100 list for 2026 – a recognition for pushing the photonics industry forward.
