Anastasia Lobanova is a water and climate scientist with over a decade of interdisciplinary experience across research, corporate, and consultancy environments. Her expertise spans climate and hydrological impact assessments, adaptation strategies, and translating science into actionable insights. She spent over eight years at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), researching on hydrological climate impact assessments and co-designing adaptation strategies with local communities. Anastasia has developed climate risk assessments and capacity-building frameworks for climate services in Central Asia, Europe, and Africa, supporting local decision-making through international projects such as IMPRESSIONS, EPICC, and the Green Central Asia. She contributed to global and regional reports for organizations like The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the Asian Development Bank, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the UN’s International Organization for Migration. She also brings a start-up perspective to climate solutions, having led the translation of scientific methods into features and tools at an early-stage climate-tech company.
Currently working as an independent consultant, Anastasia operates at the interface of science and industry. She collaborates with organizations such as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), and various private-sector partners to support climate resilience and the development of tailored, science-based solutions.
