Ambrogio Fasoli is a Swiss-Italian physicist and leading researcher in plasma physics and nuclear fusion. He currently serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Director of the Swiss Plasma Center.

Fasoli chairs the European consortium EUROfusion, coordinating Europe’s fusion laboratories, and represents Switzerland on the Governing Board of Fusion For Energy, supporting the international ITER project. He has led major experimental fusion programs, including the TCV Tokamak at EPFL and JET in the UK, and founded facilities such as TORPEX and the Versatile Toroidal Facility (VTF).

A Fellow of the American Physical Society, Fasoli also served as Editor-in-Chief of Nuclear Fusion and has developed a widely attended MOOC on fusion and plasma physics, sharing his expertise with thousands of students and researchers worldwide. His work bridges fundamental plasma physics with cutting-edge fusion energy research, shaping the future of sustainable energy.
