Alicia Kowaltowski

Alicia Juliana Kowaltowski earned her MD and PhD from the State University of Campinas, in Brazil, and completed postdoctoral training at the Oregon Graduate Institute, USA. She currently is a Full Professor of Biochemistry at the University of São Paulo (USP) and a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on mitochondrial bioenergetics and energy metabolism, with over three decades of contributions toward understanding metabolic regulation in health and disease. She also has interest in responsible research assessment and science dissemination.
