Engage Pitches
Falling Walls Engage Pitches
Falling Walls Engage Pitches are part of the annual Falling Walls Science Summit, which reunites the global science community in Berlin from 7–9 November 2026. The event offers selected Science Engagement practitioners international visibility and the chance to connect with peers who engage diverse audiences with science worldwide.
We welcome 15 inspiring Falling Walls Engage Finalists who pitch their project on stage in front of an international audience, competing for the title Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year in Science Engagement.
Since 2024, we have established a thematic focus on Climate Action. We are particularly looking for innovative, high-impact science-engagement projects that drive meaningful mitigation or adaptation efforts and empower communities dealing with the impacts of climate change.
On 9 November, the Breakthroughs of the Year in 9 categories – including Science Engagement – are honoured during the Falling Walls Science Summit on the anniversary of the historic fall of the Berlin Wall.
The application process will open on 2 February 2026.
In 2025, we received a stunning 237 applications from 84 countries with participatory and interactive formats of all kinds – from co-productive research over public panels towards arts-driven or entertaining approaches. Congratulations to all Shortlisted Applicants!

INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Falling Walls Engage is calling for Science Engagement projects that contribute to Climate Action—one of the most urgent global challenges of our time. We are particularly interested in projects that enable meaningful climate mitigation or adaptation and empower communities to actively respond to the impacts of climate change.
Climate change is already reshaping ecosystems, societies, and economies worldwide. Addressing these challenges requires decisive action: reducing greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation) while simultaneously strengthening the capacity of communities and systems to cope with current and future climate impacts (adaptation).
Science Engagement projects can play a powerful role in advancing Climate Action. By connecting scientific knowledge with societal needs, these initiatives translate evidence into practice, support informed decision-making, and foster collective action. They engage diverse audiences, encourage collaboration, and create spaces where communities can develop and implement solutions that are both locally relevant and scientifically sound.
The projects applying for the Falling Walls Engage Pitches are required to address climate action as a core element.
