Engage Hubs x Berlin Science Week 2026
Connecting Science, Communities and Ideas Across Borders
In 2026, Falling Walls Engage Hubs join Berlin Science Week to bring international Science Engagement perspectives and formats to Berlin. As an annual festival bringing together science, research and society across the city, Berlin Science Week creates a space for people and ideas from different networks to meet.
Falling Walls Engage Hub Canada and Falling Walls Engage Hub Mexico are bringing their networks to Berlin, connecting people, ideas and organisations across borders and disciplines. Their collaboration with Berlin Science Week shows what can happen when networks come together: sharing knowledge, building new connections and creating opportunities for science to engage new audiences.
MEXICAN SCIENCE DAY: FROM KNOWLEDGE TO ACTION
ENGAGE HUB MEXICO

Mexican Science Day brings together researchers, policymakers and institutions from Mexico, Germany and partner countries to explore how science can build bridges across borders and turn knowledge into action. Organised with partners including the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) and the Falling Walls Foundation, the programme combines expert panels with presentations by young researchers.
A highlight of the day is the Thesis in 180 Seconds competition, where young researchers connected to UNAM, UAM and Falling Walls present their research in just three minutes. The panel discussions will explore how research can contribute to shared challenges in areas such as health, sustainability, climate resilience and technological development.

QUEENS OF SCIENCE: A SCIENCE THEATRE DRAG SHOW

In 2022, Carrie Boyce presented Science is a Drag at the Falling Walls Science Summit, where the project received the Inclusive Science Engagement Award. Following this recognition, Carrie went on to become Manager of Falling Walls Engage Hub Canada. Four years later, the project returns to Berlin as Queens of Science bringing its community-led approach to a wider public audience at Berlin Science Week.
Through drag, comedy, performance and storytelling, Queens of Science turns scientific ideas into an entertaining and interactive experience. Its return to Berlin also reflects what can grow from a connection made through Falling Walls: an award-winning idea developed into a lasting relationship, a new Hub and a new opportunity to reach audiences in a different context.
