A look back on Falling Walls Remote 2020
2020, Falling Walls was reshaping its model to offer a digital stage for top researchers and create a global forum for scientific breakthroughs and their initiators. Rather than broadcasting the usual two-day-conference in which selected leading scientists presented their latest research, the year 2020 an international call for the most innovative minds has been launched in ten categories. Maximising the potential of digitalisation, the programme spread from 1 to 10 November with Daily Highlights and an accessible schedule, ensuring that people living in multiple time zones can follow the live sessions and gain insights into valuable scientific progress.
From the 940 nominations, 650 finalists were chosen. They provided a short video along with their research publications – published in a growing library on the digital platform of Falling Walls. Ten juries reviewed all finalists in ten categories to identify ten winners per category. The winners were publicly presented in ten live Falling Walls Winners Sessions. Finally, the jury picked the best of the best to become Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year 2020.
