Dr. Bjelke was appointed Director General of the Swedish Research Council in 2022. She has a solid background in academia where she served as a University Director at KI, as well as at Uppsala University. She worked for 7 years as Director of Research Policy for the Government, with main responsibility for research policies, including the Swedish research bills. She is trained as a Doctor of Dental Surgery and holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Karolinska Institutet. Dr. Bjelke also held position such as Chair of the Audit Com. of the Nobel Foundation and the Swedish National Space Agency, and as an member of the boards of Young Academy of Sweden, SUHF, the ESS, STINT, and holding companies.
