Chase Beisel is a W3 professor and group leader in the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) in Würzburg, Germany. He was trained as a chemical engineer but focused on RNA engineering through his PhD at Caltech. After postdoctoral research on bacterial RNAs at the National Institutes of Health, he joined the chemical engineering faculty at NC State University. In 2018 he moved to Germany to join the newly founded HIRI. His group works at the interface of CRISPR biology and technologies, with the goal of advancing the study, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases.
