Metin Sitti

Prof. Dr. Metin Sitti is the President of Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey since fall 2023. He was the director of Physical Intelligence Department at Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany (2014-2023), professor at ETH Zurich (2020-2024), and professor at Carnegie Mellon University in USA (2002-2014). He is a pioneer and world leader in bio-inspired adhesives and wireless small-scale robots that can conduct minimally invasive medical operations inside the human body. He is a National Academy of Engineering member and received the Science Breakthrough of the Year Award in Falling Walls in Engineering and Technology category in 2020. He founded Setex Technologies Inc. to commercialise gecko-inspired adhesives.
