Hira Fatima is a PhD student at the University of Karachi with a passion for expanding our understanding of the universe. Her research focuses on studying the cosmos across multiple wavelengths, with a particular emphasis on inflow-outflow coupling in neutron star accreting binaries, one of astrophysics' many enigmas.

In addition to her research, Hira is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, access, and inclusion in STEM. She serves as the National Astronomy Education Coordinator for Pakistan under the International Astronomical Union’s Office of Astronomy for Education, an Las Cumbers Observatory Global Sky Partner, an associate member of ASTRO ACCEL, and a member of the Education and Outreach Team of Radio Galaxy Zoo.

Hira has successfully secured grants and organized numerous astronomy and space science workshops for school teachers and students and forged international collaborations to empower women and girls in science. Her contributions to astronomy education have garnered widespread recognition, earning her invitations to prestigious events such as the IAU General Assemblies, the Royal Astronomical Society's National Astronomy Meeting, and the United Nations Space4Women Expert Meeting.

"Science is not just about answers—it’s about questions, perspectives, and shared human curiosity. I want to champion a future where women and girls contribute equally to groundbreaking discoveries. Astronomy reminds us how small our differences are compared to the vastness of the universe. My goal is to amplify this message and help create a world where we all strive for the stars together, united in our pursuit of knowledge and a better future."

Hira Fatima is a part of the Falling Walls Female Science Talents Intensive Track 2025.
