Fernanda del Cid Hernández

Fernanda del Cid Hernández is a Guatemalan chemist, researcher and lecturer at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. Her work bridges chemistry and biology to develop nature-inspired solutions for environmental and human health. Her international scientific experience has shaped a global and collaborative perspective on chemistry. She will represent Guatemala at the Falling Walls Lab Global Finale 2026 with research on diatom-derived biomaterials for capturing microplastics from water.
