Hub focus
Engage Hub Malawi connects science engagement practitioners, researchers and institutions across Malawi and the greater region. Launched in 2025, the Hub is strengthening Malawi’s participation in the global community, providing new opportunities to collaborate, exchange knowledge and showcase science engagement with science practitioners and citizens.
Key priority areas
The priority areas of Engage Hub Malawi focus on strengthening science engagement through policy dialogues, impact journalism, community discussions and stakeholder collaboration. The Hub places a strong emphasis on fostering behaviour change and building connections between researchers, institutions, policymakers and local communities to make science more accessible and impactful. A key priority is addressing sustainability challenges in Malawi, including deforestation and affordable energy solutions, through inclusive public engagement and joint action.
Local relevance
Engage Hub Malawi is rooted in local challenges and community priorities, with a strong focus on creating meaningful dialogue between scientists, policymakers and the public. Through initiatives such as community discussions and behaviour change programmes, the Hub works to address issues that directly affect Malawian communities, including deforestation, sustainable energy access and public participation in science.
About the Hub
Location and network
Based at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Engage Hub Malawi serves as a platform for strengthening science engagement across Malawi and the wider region. Since its launch, the Hub has sought to connect researchers, institutions, policymakers, journalists and community actors through collaborative programmes and knowledge exchange. As part of the Falling Walls Engage network, the Hub contributes to international conversations on science engagement while supporting local initiatives and partnerships.
