International Spring Gathering 2024
From Research to Leadership: Empowering Scientific Careers at the International Spring Gathering 2024
The third edition of the Female Science Talents International Spring Gathering took place from 22-24 May 2024 in Berlin. For the first time of the year, we gathered our 20 Intensive Track Champions 2024 for a thrilling week filled with events, workshops, and networking activities alongside female leaders, role models, partners and Female Science Talents alumni.
With a special emphasis on leadership, the event featured special guests while providing space for community-building and peer-learning. The first day, Wednesday 22 May, was hosted in the office space of Brunswick, an advisory firm at the centre of Berlin, where attendees had the opportunity to network and take part in a tailored workshop on public engagement in science hosted by Mhairi Stewart from the Berlin School of Public Engagement. The day ended with a gathering with Female Science Talents alumni and mentors at the Falling Walls Foundation office.
On Thursday 23 May, we gathered our guests and partners at Table.Media and explored the critical topic of “Ethical Leadership and Decision-Making”, alongside with networking activities. The afternoon featured an interview with Mike Devoy, Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Pharmacovigilance for the Pharmaceuticals Division at Bayer AG, followed by an interactive workshop on ethical leadership co-hosted with the Bayer Foundation. Following this, Max Vögler, Vice President for Global Strategic Networks – DACH at Elsevier, provided key insights on Elsevier’s latest report on gender in research.
We closed the International Spring Gathering with a science and cultural event in Berlin on Friday 24 May.
We thank all of our participants, speakers and partners for their invaluable support.
