Professor Dr. Thomas Hirth is Vice President for Transfer and International Affairs at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. He has held this position since 2016, with his current term running until 2027. He also holds a professorship at the University of Stuttgart and previously served as Prodean of the Faculty of Energy, Process and Bioengineering.

Before joining KIT, he held several senior positions within the Fraunhofer Society, including Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (IGB) in Stuttgart and Head of Environmental Engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT). His research and professional activities focus on chemical engineering, interfacial processes, and biotechnology, with a strong emphasis on applied research and technology transfer between academia and industry.
