Sylvain Gigan is Professor of Physics at Sorbonne Université and deputy director of the Laboratoire Kastler-Brossel in Paris, where he leads the Photonics, Information and Complexity group. After a PhD in quantum optics and a postdoc in Vienna, he turned to the physics of light in complex media, introducing in 2010 the transmission matrix, a tool that made optical scattering measurable and reversible. He also co-founded LightOn, which builds optical processors for AI.
