Sophie D'Amours

Sophie D'Amours is Rector (rectrice) of Université Laval in Québec City, the first woman to hold the post, first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022. A mechanical engineer with a doctorate from École Polytechnique de Montréal, she was a professor in Laval's mechanical engineering department and the university's Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation before becoming rector.
