Simone Schwanitz

Simone Schwanitz has been Secretary General of the Max Planck Society since 2022. She studied political science and economics and earned a PhD in Eastern European studies. She was consultant in the Deutsche Bundestag, head of the department for state-wide coordination and EU representative of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Education, Science, Youth, and Culture, and head of the department for higher education, research, and the arts in the Secretariat of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) in the Federal Republic of Germany.
