Shai Zilberzwige-Tal developed synthetic biology tools during her PhD at Tel Aviv University, creating artificial cells and on-chip mRNA-LNP platforms. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, she uncovered the evolutionary origin of CRISPR-Cas13 from RNA-regulated toxin–antitoxin systems. At the Weizmann Institute of Science, she will decode RNA-protein logic in bacterial defences and engineer programmable RNA circuits for biotechnological applications.
