Randy Gomez is Chief Scientist at Honda Research Institute Japan, where he leads the Embodied Communication Research Group. His work explores the synergy between communication and interaction to create meaningful human–robot experiences with positive societal impact.
He previously served as Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist at the institute, contributing to advances in human–robot interaction and speech technologies. Prior to this, he was a JSPS Research Fellow at Kyoto University and held a postdoctoral position at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology.
Dr. Gomez earned his PhD in Information Science from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology and a Master’s degree from the University of New South Wales. His research is reflected in numerous academic publications at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and human-centered computing.
