Oliver Kaczmarek is a social scientist and Member of the German Bundestag since 2009. Since 2025, he has served as spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group on research, technology, space, and technology assessment. From 2018 to 2025, he was spokesperson on education and research.
A member of the SPD since 1988, he has held various leadership positions within the party and the SPD parliamentary group, including membership in the party executive and the parliamentary group executive committee. Before entering parliament, he worked as a policy advisor at the Ministry of Schools and Further Education of North Rhine-Westphalia and as a youth education advisor for the SPD state association of North Rhine-Westphalia.
He studied history and social studies at Ruhr University Bochum, completing the state examination for teaching positions at secondary schools.
