Mwend Ntarangwi

Professor Ntarangwi is an international scholar, teacher, researcher and administrator whose experience and expertise span more than three decades and cut across diverse geographical locations and institutions. Trained in language education (Kenyatta University) and cultural anthropology (University of Illinois), Prof. Ntarangwi has been keen to apply his research interests and focus to teaching, leadership and administration. He has taught in universities in Kenya, the United States, and Liberia; carried out research in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the United States, and Zimbabwe. Prof. Ntarangwi's teaching and administrative experiences include serving as faculty at St. Lawrence University, Augustana College, and Calvin College (USA), Kenyatta University and Egerton University (Kenya), as CEO at the Commission for University Education (CUE), as the Deputy Principal in charge of Academics, Research and Student Affairs at NIRUC (a constituent college of the National Defence University, Kenya), and currently as the Vice Chancellor USIU-Africa in Kenya. Prof. Ntarangwi’s focus and passion for accessible, relevant and equitable education has continued to be expressed at USIU-Africa especially through its  mission to prepare the next generation of effective, engaged, and ethical leaders for the fast-changing African and global contexts.
