Michael Kneissl is Chair of Experimental Nanophysics & Photonics at TU Berlin and heads the JointLab GaN Optoelectronics at the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut in Berlin. His research focuses on wide-bandgap semiconductors, nanostructures, and UV photonics, including deep-UV LEDs and laser diodes. An IEEE Fellow and holder of over 60 patents in photonic device technologies, he also serves as Chairman of the Advanced UV for Life association, uniting academia and industry to promote sustainable UV light sources addressing global challenges in health, hygiene, water safety, and environmental protection.
