Mateo Valero is Director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), which he founded in 2004, and Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. A leading figure in computer architecture and high-performance computing, he has played a key role in establishing Spain as a global hub for supercomputing research.
His work has focused on parallel computing, processor architecture, and large-scale computing infrastructures. At BSC, he led the development of the MareNostrum supercomputer, one of Europe’s most prominent supercomputing systems.
Dr. Valero holds a PhD in Telecommunications from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. His contributions to the field have been widely recognized with major international awards for innovation in computer engineering and leadership in research.
