Markus Arndt did his Ph.D. at the LMU Munich with A.W. Weis and T. W. Hänsch. He worked with Jean Dalibard at the ENS in Paris before joining the group of Anton Zeilinger. Together they demonstrated the first quantum diffraction of C60 at the University of Vienna in 1999. Arndt started his own team in 2001 and became a professor at the University of Vienna in 2004, tenured in 2008. He develops methods to explore and utilize the quantum nature of large molecules and nanoparticles.
