Katharina Lorenz

Katharina Lorenz is the President of Justus-Liebig University Giessen and Professor of Classical Archaeology. Before assuming the presidency in 2024, she held academic positions at the Universities of Oxford, Nottingham, and Heidelberg, and directed the Giessen Collection of Classical Antiquities. Her research focuses on ancient visual cultures, with a particular interest in portrait practices of the Roman Empire, and on how digital technologies are transforming knowledge production and cultural heritage studies in the humanities.
