Hamid Alberto Abud Russell was born in Campeche, Mexico, in 1992. He earned his BA at El Colegio de México and his MA at Heidelberg University. He recently received his PhD from Heidelberg's Geography Department for his research on Entrenched Mobility in the Yucatán Peninsula. His work examines unequal urban travel conditions faced by minorities and explores how these movement patterns, once ossified, reflect broader societal inequities. He currently co-hosts a weekly lecture with Professor Ulrike Gerhard on the topic of the North American city.
