Donald B. Dingwell

Donald B. Dingwell is a geologist specializing in experimental volcanology and the physical chemistry of magmas. He is best known for his research on volcanic processes and their role in the Earth system. A longtime professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and former Secretary General of the European Research Council, Dingwell has also led major international geoscience organizations. Through his scientific leadership and widely cited research, he has advanced understanding of volcanic eruptions and strengthened international collaboration in the geosciences.
