Alicia is a recovering biochemist turned science policy researcher. She studies the policy and social implications of emerging, environmental biotechnologies enabled by synthetic biology. She interested in how social, political, and economic systems inform the development, deployment, and access of these technologies. Her goal is to bridge the gap between communities, scientists, and policymakers to develop community-centered, evidence-based regulatory policies. More broadly, she wishes to inform a biotechnology future that is grounded in trust and people's needs.
