William Moerner is a Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Physics at Stanford University and leader of the Moerner Lab. His persistent research into super-resolution imaging, visualizing the pathways of individual molecules inside living cells, eventually awarded him the 2014 Nobel Prize in Chemistry which he shared with colleagues Stefan Hell and Eric Betzig. His ardent research allows today’s scientists to peek into the nano-scale worlds of proteins and smallest molecules, creating a new understanding of diseases and innovations in many scientific fields.
