WareVision is developing a robotic system for the automated inventory management of warehouses. The system enables warehouses to carry out a more efficient partial and full inventory. WareVision’s solution consists of a mobile robot and drone that are able to recognise markers such as barcodes, QR codes, and RFID on the storage objects and compare these data with data from the warehouse management system (WMS). The technology can determine how full shelves or pallets are and can take photos of stored objects for subsequent visual inspection. Relying on the deployment of additional human employees, current inventory processes are costly, inaccurate, and often involve hazardous tasks that put the workers’ health at risk. WareVision’s automated system thus increases the level of safety in warehouses, eliminates errors, and significantly speeds up the inventory process. The company has developed a prototype of the system that is currently being tested.
