Sparxell is a University of Cambridge (UK) spinout creating the next generation of colours and effects. Their mission is to eliminate toxic chemicals from colouration and replace them with nature-positive alternatives.

Taking nature as inspiration, Sparxell developed the world's first performance pigment from plant, using cellulose as feedstock – a renewable, biodegradable resource that can be extracted from waste streams. Textile dyeing and finishing represents 2% of global GHG emissions and generates billions of tonnes of wastewater pollution. Their colour platform can generate colour without any dyes, nor plastics, nor toxins. Recognised by multiple awards including the Biomimicry Institute and Morgan Stanley Sustainability Collaborative Prize, Sparxell offers a solution to decarbonising and detoxifying the colour industry.
