Pauline Kolbeck is a PhD student at the Department of Biophysics and Molecular Materials and the Center for Nanoscience at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, as well as the Debye Institute and the Department of Physics at the Universiteit Utrecht in the Netherlands. Her research focuses on the study of the interaction of DNA with proteins, in particular protein-induced phase transitions in DNA and DNA condensation. In doing so, she makes an important contribution to the understanding of retroviral integration at the molecular level, which in turn enables applications in related fields such as virology and gene therapy. Pauline is generally interested in science communication and interdisciplinary research to bring together people from different backgrounds and broaden our understanding of scientific problems.
