Marta is the Director of the Technology Transfer Office of University of Minho (TecMinho), one of the leading Portuguese Universities, where she manages a team of twelve professionals in three business units: Industrial Property Management, Technology Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship.
With an academic background in Engineering, Industrial Property Management and Marketing, Marta is passionate about adding value to research results so that societal needs can be met. Marta has a vast experience in business development, negotiation, licensing and coaching academic spin-offs, and has been regularly invited as an expert by the World Intellectual Property Organization and major proof-of-concept funds in Europe: the European Research Council, the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, the Finnish Academy of Science, Portugal Ventures, the Research Foundation – Flanders and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Marta is the Immediate Past President of ASTP-Proton, the European Knowledge Transfer Association, which represents more than 800 technology transfer professionals and 30 national knowledge transfer associations in Europe.
