Margaret Wertheim

Margaret Wertheim is a science writer and artist. With degrees in physics and math she has authored 7 books including “Pythagoras Trousers” a cultural history of physics. She has written for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Guardian. Early in her career in Australia, Margaret wrote science columns for Vogue and created a TV science-series for teenage girls. In 2003 with her sister Christine, she founded the Institute For Figuring, an LA-based practice devoted to “the aesthetic dimensions of science.” The sisters Crochet Coral Reef is a global art+science project combining craft, math and climate change. It has engaged 20,000 participants in 50 locations, including New York, London, Latvia and Germany; and has been shown at the Venice Biennale, Helsinki Biennial and The Smithsonian.
