Lothar Stein was a Senior Partner with McKinsey & Company in the Munich, San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. For three decades, he was working with many leading companies worldwide on Strategy, Innovation, Operations and Organisation. He was the leader of the McKinsey Innovation and the High Tech Practices.
Lothar Stein holds a PhD in Physics, his focus was on Lasers and Spectroscopy, working at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching/Munich.
Currently, Lothar Stein is active as an investor with a special interest in early stage companies and high tech investments. He works closely with the company teams to help create and grow category leading companies that provide superior customer value.
His current portfolio companies include Navvis (indoor 3D mapping and navigation based on computer vision), Konux (sensors and preventive maintenance solutions for industry 4.0), and Sinn Power (a completely new technology to generate electricity from ocean waves as well as several other companies).
He is the Head of the NavVis Advisory Board and a Board Member of several other companies and entrepreneurial Institutions, including BayStartUP, where he initiated the Business Plan Competition in 1996.
