Finalist 2020 Finalist | Physical Sciences 2020 Physical Sciences

Laura Baudis’ research interests lie at the intersection of particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. She builds detectors to discover and ultimately study dark matter particles and to reveal fundamental properties of neutrinos. Baudis received her PhD from the University of Heidelberg, was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford, and an assistant professor at the University of Florida. In 2006, she was awarded the Lichtenberg Professorship for Astroparticle Physics at RWTH Aachen, and in 2007 she moved to the University of Zurich, where she is a full professor of experimental physics.
