Julia Gerster

Assistant Professor Julia Gerster received a Ph.D. in Japanese Studies with a disciplinary focus in Cultural Anthropology at Free University of Berlin. Since 2019, she works as Assistant Professor at the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) at Tohoku University. Her main research interests include the dynamics of social relations after disasters, recovery processes, the handling of negative heritage as well as identity and community building.
