Jonathan Jeschke

Professor of Biology

Jonathan Jeschke was born in Munich in 1973 and studied biology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU), where he received his doctorate in 2002 from the Department of Ecology. From 2003 to 2005 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, New York, USA. There he started to study invasive alien species. From 2005 to 2006 he studied the mating behavior of birds at the University of Helsinki, Finland. After his habilitation in 2011, he has been researching and teaching as Professor of Ecological Novelty at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) and the Free University of Berlin since 2014.
