Igor Bargatin is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics and Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology in 2008 and was a postdoctoral researcher at CEA/LETI in 2008 and Stanford University from 2008 to 2012. Professor Bargatin’s research interests include photophoretic levitation, mechanical metamaterials, interstellar spacecraft, and solid-state energy converters. He is a winner of the NSF CAREER award and the Penn Engineering teaching award.
