Dr. Henrike Hartmann studied pharmacy at the University of Freiburg and did her doctorate in pharmacology in Heidelberg and Mannheim. She then spent three years as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School in Boston and at the University of Frankfurt am Main. She has been working for the Volkswagen Foundation since 1998. In addition to her work for the foundation, Henrike Hartmann is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Zukunftskolleg at the University of Konstanz and the Board of Trustees of the Max Planck Institutes for Biology of Aging, Cologne and the Max Planck Institute for Metabolic Research, also in Cologne.
