Gabriele Hermani, Head of Division 212 at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is responsible for research cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Born in Frankfurt, she is a political and sports scientist. Over the course of her career, she worked, among others, for the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (F.A.Z) and published, for example, the handbook “The International Career” in the “Blickbuch Wirtschaftsverlag of F.A.Z.” and a “Guide to public relations in family businesses” in the Campus Edition. In 2005, she switched to public service and was deputy spokesperson at the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Another book published at this time was “The German Islam Conference 2006 to 2009”. In April 2010 she became Head of the “Strategic Communication and International Press” Division at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Berlin. In October 2013, she moved to the Federal Foreign Office as a science advisor at the German Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel. From September 2016 to the end of September 2020 she was “Head of the Science Department” at the German Embassy in Warsaw, Poland. In October 2020 she returned to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Berlin. The first tasks here were to freeze scientific relations with Russia and deepen research relations with Ukraine.
