Diego graduated with a BSc in biochemistry from The Autonomous University of Madrid. He then began a MSc in leading international vaccinology education with an Erasmus+ Mundus scholarship awarded by the European Commission. During this time, he studied at the University of Barcelona, Antwerp, Lyon, and Saint-Étienne. There, he was trained in vaccine science, public health, communication, immunology, infectiology, epidemiology, and European languages. Later, he returned to Spain where he joined Francisco Sánchez-Madrid’s group focusing on how to harness the communication between immune cells to improve and design novel immunisation approaches. He completed his PhD in 2023.
