Christian Luft has been State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since October 2018. Prior to this, he was Director-General for “Social, Health, Labour Market, Infrastructure and Societal Policy” at the Federal Chancellery, where he was also responsible for education and research. From January 2010 to December 2013, he headed the “Social, Health and Labour Market Policy” Directorate at the Federal Chancellery and went on to become Head of Directorate-General “Social Insurance; Old-Age Security, Social Assistance” at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Before transferring to Berlin, Mr Luft served as Head of Division “Care and Senior Services, Long-term Care Insurance” and Deputy Director-General for “Social Insurance” at the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry of Social Affairs from May 2007 to January 2010. Christian Luft studied administrative sciences at the University of Konstanz from 1983 to 1988.
