Anna Hofmann

Anna Hofmann is Head of Research and Scholarship Department at the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in Hamburg. Her work concentrates on research funding in Social Sciences and Humanities promoting international exchange, knowledge transfer and academic freedom across national borders. She is particularly interested in borders and migration, urban and rural developments as well as social and political transformation in Europe and its neighboring regions.
Anna holds a master’s degree in Economics und International Relations from the Cracow University of Economics and a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the Humboldt University Berlin. Her Ph.D. research concentrated on securitization processes in Central and Eastern Europe, especially on security issues in policy debates of the 1990s and early 2000s. Before joining the ZEIT-Stiftung in 2008 she gained professional experience both in business and civil society sector: as trainee at Oetker International in Bielefeld and Bratislava as well as project director at the Foundation Genshagen – the Berlin-Brandenburg Institute for French-German Cooperation in Europe.
