Andrei Fursenko is Aide to the President of the Russian Federation since 2012. In 2004 he was appointed as a Minister of Education and Science. Before he held several positions such as Deputy Minister of Industry, Science and Technology, the Director of Regional Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development and the Vice President of the Advanced Technology Centre. Between 1971 and 1991 he was the deputy director for research at the Ioffe Physical Technical Institute of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. He graduated from Leningrad State University as a Doctor of Physics and Mathematics.
