Prof. Dr. Andreas Tünnermann is Spokesman for the Max Planck School of Photonics, head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF in Jena and is chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Fraunhofer Society. At the same time he is director of the Institute for Applied Physics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and a member of the board of directors of the Helmholtz Institute Jena. In 2005 he was awarded the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation for his research in the field of fiber lasers. In 2011 he received the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia.
