Alexander Newman

Professor Alexander Newman is a Professor in the Department of Management in Deakin Business School and one of the world’s leading scholars on the employment of people from a refugee background. In 2019 he established the Centre for Refugee Employment, Advocacy, Training and Education (CREATE) to support refugees access education and obtain employment. In 2020 his work was recognized by the Australian Financial Review Higher Education Awards in the ‘Emerging Leader’ and ‘Equity and Opportunity’ categories. In 2019 he was also recognized by the Australian Newspaper’s Research Magazine as one of Australian Academia’s top 40 rising stars.
