Dr. Wieger Wamelink works as ecologist at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the Netherlands on the effects of nitrogen deposition and climate change on biodiversity. In 2013 Wieger started Food For Mars and Moon to grow crops on Mars and the moon applying the regoliths present. The research includes the effects of heavy metals and cosmic radiation on the growth and creating a sustainable closed agricultural ecosystem. As an artist Wieger earlier exposed at the Design museum in London, the biennale in Milan, Glow in Eindhoven and the science museum in Warsaw. In 2023 Wamelink won the BAD-Award together with Anna Vershinina.
