Vermon Washington

Vermon Washington is a policy and development practitioner who is very passionate about sustainability, climate action and environmental policy. He is currently studying for a Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School, concentrating on policy analysis with a focus on climate policy. He is also one of the 2024 recipients of the Climate Action Scholarship at the Centre for Sustainability at the Hertie School. Driven by his passion for climate action, he researches mitigation policies and has presented findings at the Knowledge Beyond Boundaries Conference at the London School of Economics and the European Public Policy Conference. Prior to joining the Hertie School, he obtained a Master in International Development degree from IE University in Madrid, Spain and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the Stella Maris Polytechnic University in Monrovia, Liberia. Vermon has worked as a Policy Analyst at the United Nations Development Coordination Office and as an Associate at the President’s Young Professionals Program. He currently serves as an inaugural board member for the Student and Alumni Advisory Board at the Centre for Sustainability at the Hertie School and is interested in using empirical findings to enable stakeholders to make informed policy decisions in mitigating the climate crisis.
